Cable braiding strengthens cable while providing reliable protection for harsh environments. Summit’s in-house cable braiding team can quickly armor your custom-length shipboard cable or rig cable with 90% coverage over the cable’s outer jacket.
While some specialty cables come with an electrical screen (or open braid) under the outer jacket, don’t confuse this electrical shielding for cable protection. These screens are intended for electrical and RF shields and won’t protect your cable in extreme environments. But with Summit’s cable armoring, your cable is ready to weather any condition.
With more than 40 years of combined cable braiding experience, our skilled technicians can armor even the shortest lengths of cable using aluminum or bronze, and no minimum quantity is required. Buy your cable from Summit or bring in your own for armoring.
Summit can also armor your low smoke, zero halogen cable for even greater protection. Although current International Electrical Code does not require armoring of LSZH cable, we recommend it for certain harsh applications.
