This state-of-the-art reclamation facility, set on 30 acres, has a treatment capacity of 18 million gallons of water per day. Summit provided all the controls, controls systems and most of the switchgear to the City of Mesa for this project. Beyond products, Summit created operator and maintenance manuals with a page on every single product supplied based on manufacturers’ information. Summit also provided on-site technical support on installation of the products for 15 months during construction in 2001-2002.
Located north of Baseline Road and within the Superstition Springs Golf Course, this facility has a water treatment capacity of 8 million gallons per day. The effluent from the plant is used to irrigate the golf course landscape, as well as for pond replenishment and some agricultural irrigation. Summit provided all of the controls and control systems during initial construction in the late 1990s.
Originally constructed as a lift station, this facility is being expanded into a water reclamation plant that will have a treatment capacity of 16 million gallons per day. When the expansion is completed, plans call for the plant to treat sewage from southeast Mesa, southeast Gilbert and all of Queen Creek. Summit provided automation control systems (PLCs) and on-site technical support.
Completed in 2007, this 76,000-square-foot facility treats up to 27 million gallons of water per day from the Salt River Project, using a direct microfiltration process for the advanced treatment of surface water. Designed and engineered by Black & Veatch, the plant includes a buried 5.5-million-gallon reservoir and pumping station. Together they encompass only nine acres of a 29-acres site, making the Chaparral plant one third of the size of some conventional plants. The plant won a “Grand Award in Engineering Excellence” from the Arizona chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies.
Contractors relied on Summit for all of the required electrical switchgear that met the project’s rigorous engineering specifications.
This critical water treatment facility, completed in April 2010, is treating raw water (CAP water) from rain and snowfall in the Rocky Mountains. By successfully treating this naturally sustainable water resource, the facility conserves more than 3 billion gallons of groundwater annually, while also saving the electricity required to pump that groundwater. The plant, owned and built by the Arizona American Water Company, was designed and engineered by Black & Veatch.
Summit supplied all electrical switchgear for all key components of the facility, including pumping station intake, treatment processes, and supervisory control and data acquisition system.
