Summit Electric Supply was recognized as the second largest revenue producing company in New Mexico by the 2012 New Mexico Private 100 list.
Revived after an eight-year hiatus, the list honors the most successful privately held companies for their innovation, job creation, and community service. According to the Albuquerque Journal’s Business Outlook, the companies in this year’s list employ a total of 11,000 people and generated $4.6 billion in revenue in 2012.
Founded in 1977, Summit just celebrated its 35th anniversary. The company has grown from five employees to nearly 550 employees, and anticipates annual sales in 2012 to reach $400 million. It now operates in 22 U.S. markets and Dubai, UAE and ranks 18th among the top 25 electrical distribution companies in the nation by Modern Distribution Management Magazine.
Senior Vice President Joe Chesky told the Albuquerque Journal in an interview that while acquisitions have impacted Summit’s expansion, the company’s rapid growth has happened as a result of “giving superior customer service.”
Summit has signature service guarantees that customers visiting Summit’s counters have come to rely on for fast and reliable service – the 30-Second Counter Service Guarantee® and the 20/20 Will-Call Guarantee®. These guarantees helped raise the bar on service more than 25 years ago and continue to help set the company apart today.
Summit associates are required to complete at least 36 hours of training each year, making them among the most knowledgeable staff in the industry. The company and its associates are also widely recognized for their support of organizations and causes within their local communities.
