Summit donated a total of $27,140 to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts after a 10-day fundraising campaign that matched associate contributions to first responder organizations. In just three days from the initial call to give, associates had already raised more than $11,000.
Summit has a long tradition of stepping up to support first responder organizations when natural disasters strike, said CEO Victor R. Jury Jr. in a message to associates.
Associates donated $13,570 between the American Red Cross and Salvation Army from October 31 through November 9th. With matching funds from Summit, the total donation amount to the organizations came to $27,140. For the organizations to quickly put donated funds to use, Summit contributed matching dollars twice during the fundraising drive.
