Summit Electric Supply reached its 35-year milestone on August 15 and has many reasons to celebrate. A company that started in 1977 with a single service center is now ranked the 18th largest electrical distributor in the nation.
In the last 35 years, Summit has grown from just five employees to nearly 550 employees operating in 21 U.S. markets. It also has expanded globally with a service center in Dubai, UAE and has three industry focused divisions selling products around the world.
Founders Victor R. Jury Sr., David Meredith, and Victor R. Jury Jr. had a vision to provide the best service in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This vision soon became the foundation for Summit’s continued success as the company expanded domestically and internationally. Quickly earning a reputation for dependable and reliable service, with some of the most knowledgeable and best trained employees in the business, Summit rocketed from $400,000 in annual sales in 1977 to an anticipated $400 million in 2012.
Along with its reputation for superior service, Summit is also well-known for its signature service guarantees that were implemented over 25 years ago. The company’s 20/20 Will-Call Guarantee® and 30-Second Counter Service Guarantee® ensure that customers visiting Summit’s counters will receive fast and reliable service.
Jury Sr. and Meredith have since retired, but President and CEO Victor R. Jury Jr. still drives Summit’s core value of exceptional service to both customers and fellow employees.
“The same ideals Summit was founded on continue to drive our culture today. We have talented and smart people who work hard, provide superior customer service, and who have helped Summit grow to what we are today. These past 35 years have been full of many successes, and I’m confident that our efforts will bring us even more success in the future,” says Jury Jr.
Summit and its associates have also been widely recognized for their support of organizations and causes within their local communities. Philanthropy has grown to be an integral part of the company’s culture, stemming from Jury’s personal commitment to actively support the community.
Summit celebrated its 35-year anniversary with associate luncheons and other team activities in all 22 of its service centers. Associates also received commemorative gifts to mark the occasion.
