Summit Electric Supply has donated $42,520 to Haiti earthquake relief as a result of offering a company match to associates’ contributions.
Summit President and CEO Victor R. Jury Jr. promised the company would match associate efforts donated through Compassion International and Salvation Army. Associates across Summit’s 19 locations personally donated $21,260 to provide disaster relief to the tiny island nation of Haiti after it was struck by a devastating earthquake Jan. 12. With the match, Summit’s total contribution came to $42,520.
"I continue to be humbled by the kindness and generosity our associates consistently demonstrate toward others,” Jury said. “The minute that I learned of the tragedy in Haiti, I knew our associates would step up to help and, of course, they did. I am blessed to work with an exceptional team with such compassionate hearts. "
The 7.0 earthquake caused at least 200,000 deaths and billions of dollars in damages to buildings, roads and infrastructure.
