Own a Business? Ameren Has a Bright Idea for You

Ameren Illinois has increased incentives for business customers who upgrade their electric lighting. Until April 16, Ameren is adding 15 percent of incentives on top of existing grants available for energy-efficient lighting, refrigeration, ventilation and air conditioning and motor systems through its Act On Energy program. The program is in its second year and is designed to help business customers reduce energy consumption, decrease energy costs, improve worker comfort and productivity while reducing carbon footprints. The current program year has seen $7 million in incentives available for the utility's business customers. Another incentive for Illinois businesses to replace the commonly used 4-foot fluorescent lamps, or F34CW, with energy-saving electronic ballast is that the Illinois government has set a deadline. By Jan. 1, 2012, using the fluorescent bulbs will be illegal. Businesses must submit applications by April 16 and complete their upgrade by May 31 to receive the additional 15 percent incentives. 3/08 Belleville News
