Dearborn City Council on Monday approved $158,079.40 in funding for the energy efficiency project. The project is funded through the U.S. Department of Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program, and joins a previous city appropriation for $242,223.78 to be used to replace 318 streetlights. Since the approval of the original project with DTE Energy in April, the pricing per light fixture was reduced from $761 to $529.31. Therefore, the entire order–which will replace 778 fixtures total, will cost a total of $400,303.18.
