New DOE SSL Technology Fact Sheet on Optical Safety of LEDs

One question that's spawned a certain amount of confusion and misinformation is how safe LED lighting is for the human eye referred to as the "Blue Light Hazard". To answer it, the U.S. Department of Energy has come out with a new SSL Technology Fact Sheet, Optical Safety of LEDs, which clarifies what's known about that issue and takes a look at current standards for photobiological safety. The new fact sheet makes clear, white-light LEDs don't pose any more of a blue light hazard than other types of general-purpose light sources at the same color temperature.
