Big I Interchange

Albuquerque, NM

The Big I freeway interchange at the intersection of Interstate 25 and 40 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, was built in 1966 and was designed to handle 300,000 vehicles daily. By the late 1990s, increasing traffic required a whole new interchange. The $291 million reconstruction project, one of the largest public works projects ever done in the state, resulted in a five-level interchange with eight flyover bridges. The new interchange took two years to complete (2000-2002) and can handle 400,000 vehicles per day.

Summit provided distribution panels and transformers, connectors, wiring devices, conduit and wire for this landmark transportation project.
