The quality and reliability of the products they manufacture and distribute through Summit must be exceptional. Their ability to provide consistently superior service is critical. We know that the quality and reliability of the products and the consistency of their service directly affects Summit's ability to service our Customers.
Over the years, we have maintained a strong tradition and policy of selecting manufacturers according to the quality and reliability of their products as demonstrated by UL testing and in the marketplace. Because of our careful vendor selection and our loyalty to single sources, Summit has created especially strong, long-term relationships with our key vendor partners. These long-term relationships work to the mutual benefit of Summit and our Customers.
Summit recognizes that in order to be a high performance distributor, we must demand and receive consistently high performance from our manufacturers. As an ISO 9001:2000 registered company, Summit recognizes that a central part of our Total Quality initiative must include our vendor partners. While we have focused on supplier quality since our founding in 1977, Summit has formally included supplier quality as a primary part of our quality process since late 1989. We monitor our manufacturers' performance and work with them on a regular basis to address any issues and achieve an ever higher service levels. Summit's Customers receive direct and immediate benefits from these activities.
