MEET THE SERVICE CENTER LEADERS

Wiley Shaw

Albuquerque Service Center
Wiley Shaw

Since earning a degree in Biological Sciences from Kansas State University, he has logged more than 35 years in the electrical industry and has been with Summit since 1981. He joined a small fraternity of Summit veterans when he marked his 25th anniversary in September 2006. At one time, he was the Service Center Leader for three New Mexico locations: Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Los Alamos. The Los Alamos Service Center has since closed, but Shaw still routinely travels the 60 miles of highway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. He's a Gold Level graduate of the Electrical Products Education Course, and he says he's most proud of his ability to mentor new Associates, grooming them for advancement.


Butler Kirby

Austin Service Center
Butler Kirby

Kirby has worked with both national and independent manufacturers and distributors in the electrical industry since 1986, working in both operations and sales. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting and business administration from the University of Kansas.

Kirby joined Summit's Fort Worth service center in 2002 as a customer service representative. He was quickly promoted to supervisor of customer service representatives after just one year. He was promoted to Austin service center leader in March 2008.


Chris Rybacki

Chris Rybacki

Rybacki began his career in the Albuquerque warehouse with no industry experience. In the 12 years since, he has absorbed a wealth of knowledge about Summit and the distribution industry, earning Gold Level certification in the Electrical Products Education Course. He moved to Texas in 2003, working as the Customer Service Representative Supervisor in Houston before assuming the reins at the Beaumont Service Center.


Tandem Louque

Tandem Louque
After managing an industrial supply company for two years, Tandem joined the Summit team in 2006. Tandem is a 2002 graduate of Southeastern University with a degree in Business Management.


Rodney Ilseng

Clute Service Center
Rodney Ilseng

The Texas native is the son of an electrical contractor and has been involved with the industry his entire life. He came to Summit in April 2003 and has been on the distribution side of the business since 1983. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville.

Dan McLaughlin

Dallas Service Center
Dan McLaughlin

Electric industry veteran Dan McLaughlin joined Summit Electric Supply in June 2007. His distinguished 28-year career began in 1979 as a truck driver for a major distributor. His deep knowledge of the Dallas/Fort Worth market was developed over the years he served as an industrial sales manager, an area manager and a regional manager for some of the largest companies in the electrical industry That knowledge and experience makes McLaughlin a leader in the industry and an exceptional Service Center Leader.


Jorge Guajardo

El Paso Service Center
Jorge Guajardo

Guajardo joined Summit as a warehouse driver for the El Paso Service Center in 1992 after completing three years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. He left Summit for five years to work as a manufacturer's rep, covering the territory of Southern New Mexico and West Texas. He returned to Summit in 2002, earning promotions while also studying for a business degree from the University of Texas-El Paso. He was promoted to Service Center Leader of Corpus Christi in March 2006. Jorge returned to El Paso in September of 2007 to assume the Service Center Leader position from the recently retired Richard Bond.


Kenny King

Farmington Service Center
Kenny King

Frequently applauded for his consistent, mild-mannered business approach, King has handled multiple duties since joining Summit in February 1991. He started in the Farmington warehouse, then worked as a Customer Service Representative and Account Manager before becoming Service Center Leader in July 1999.


Richard Efurd

Fort Worth Service Center
Richard Efurd

Efurd began his career in 1978 at Summit's original location in Albuquerque. He opened the Fort Worth Service Center in 1989 and has been that location's only Service Center Leader. He holds his Gold Level certification in the Electrical Products Education Course and has a bachelor's of business administration/marketing degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.


Damain Kerek

Gonzales Service Center
Damain Kerek

Team building is one of Kerek's passions and great talents. He has more than 22 years of industry experience, including 14 years as a manager, making the jump to Summit less than three years ago. He's experienced with ISO implementation and quality management. He began his career as a part-time warehouse worker.


 

Houston Service Center
Dan Ferrari

Ferrari has been involved in electrical distribution since 1979. He holds a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Michigan State University.

He worked for national switchgear manufacturers and an independent distributor before joining Summit in January 2007 to head a commercial construction account group at the Houston service center. He was promoted to service center leader in May 2008.


John Truss

Jacksonville Service Center
John Truss

John was an engineer for a manufacturer of automation equipment before moving to electrical-distribution management about 10 years ago. He's a native of St. Louis, Mo., and holds a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Missouri. He joined Summit in September 2006 when the company expanded into Florida, where John had earned an expansive and dedicated Customer base.


Ken Krause

Killeen Service Center
Ken Krause

He has learned the industry from all angles during his 30-plus years in the business, having worked for a contractor and a manufacturer before turning to distribution. After starting his career in Austin, Texas, in 1973, Krause gained experience in multiple roles before joining Ideal Electric in Killeen in 2000. Ideal was bought by Summit two years later, and Krause has been the location's only Service Center Leader.


Mike Mares

La Porte Service Center
Mike Mares

The Houston native holds a degree in Industrial Distribution from the University of Houston, one of about 20 programs to offer such a degree. He started on supply side, putting in 11 years with a major manufacturer, covering a beat that included Dallas, Houston and West Texas. He entered the corporate world with executive positions at ClearWorks Home Systems and ELinear Solutions, Texas-based telecommunications companies. He joined Summit to lead the La Porte branch in April 2005.


Ed Dowey

New Orleans Service Center
Ed Dowey

Dowey joined Summit in August 2004 after gaining 25 years of industry experience. He began focusing on the maritime markets in 1991, gaining an insider's perspective crucial to Summit gaining a foothold in the market. Dowey graduated from the University of South Alabama in 1980.


Drew Ott

Orlando Service Center
Vice President Sales
Drew Ott

Ott began directing Summit sales strategies upon his hire on April 17, 2006. He's responsible for coaching the sales teams at the individual Service Centers, and he also works on the corporate level developing plans to bring Summit's unique brand of service to new customers in new markets. His past professional experience includes 15 years in the electrical distribution industry as a branch manager, district manager and regional vice president. He has had direct supervision of a major, multilocation electrical distribution team. He received a degree in economics from Seton Hall University in South Orange, N.J., in 1974.


Scott Cogan

Phoenix Service Center
Scott Cogan

The 20-year industry veteran began his career as a warehouse Associate, earned his way to Counter Sales, then to a spot as a Customer Service Representative. He's a graduate of multiple manufacturers' schools and also served as a Field Sales Representative before being named Service Center Leader. His training includes Gold Level certification in the Electrical Products Education Course and numerous quality and productivity certifications.
