August 27, 2010: Summit's efforts snagged three industry awards at the National Association of Electrical Distributors’ annual Best of the Best marketing awards ceremony. Summit won in three marketing categories:     Print campaign − for an advertisement in Workboat magazine highlighting the marine division’s capabilities;      Brand awareness − for a holiday-themed Nutcracker print card, electronic card, Web site and counter collateral; and Digital campaign − for Summit's Twitter page and postings.

June 4, 2010: In its first industry rankings story, Modern Distribution Management magazine ranked Summit #18 among the nation’s top 25 electrical distributors. The rankings were based on reported annual sales.

May 20, 2010:  David Wascom, vice president of IT for Summit Electric Supply, received the Volunteer Service Award from Americas’ SAP User Group (ASUG) in Orlando, Fla., on May 18. He has been a volunteer for the past three years. He currently serves as co-chairman of the wholesale distribution segment of the group. SAP is an international enterprise resource planning system that Summit began using in 2005. The award was presented at the same event as Summit’s Impact Award, the company’s first IT-related award based on its accomplishments using SAP.

May 18, 2010: The Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG), the world’s largest community of SAP professionals, awarded Summit the group’s Impact Award in the small to medium enterprise category. Impact awards are based on implementation and effective use of SAP solutions. Winners are selected based on demonstrated success in return on investment, best practices, improved service and innovation. It was Summit’s first IT-related award. Summit joined other Impact Award winners Comcast Corp, Northern Kentucky University and Eastman Chemical Co.

March 5, 2010: Summit won the nationally recognized Communitas Award in the category of Leadership in Community Service. “Our judges found that Summit Electric Supply clearly exhibits the spirit of communitas, a Latin word that means people coming together for the good of a community,” wrote Director Ed Dalheim. Judges reviewed Summit’s philosophy of giving along with summaries of selected service projects among the 43 community and nonprofit organizations and causes the company supported in 2009.

July 16, 2009: Hayata North America, an international maker of stainless steel cable ties and banding for marine and offshore applications, named Summit Electric Supply its Distributor of the Year for leading the U.S. in sales of Hayata products in 2008.

June 2009: Summit was ranked #22 among the nation’s Top 200 electrical distributors by Electrical Wholesaling magazine based on sales of $384 million.

May 2009: Summit was named “Corporate Hero” by The New Mexico Business Weekly, the state’s leading business publication, for the company’s community outreach and philanthropy. The purpose of the awards is to highlight the positive impact that corporations have and the many creative ways they find to help and support their community.

February 2009: Summit received the Pro Patria Award, highest state honor, by a U.S. Department of Defense Agency, for demonstrating exceptional support for employees who participate in the National Guard and Reserve. The New Mexico chapter of the organization - Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) - selected Summit from among 18 companies nominated for the award. The recognition, coupled with Summit’s winning the “Above and Beyond Award,” led the group to nominate Summit for the prestigious national Freedom Award.

October 2008: Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer Russel Hiller named "Top Performing CFO" in the large-business category by the New Mexico Business Weekly, Albuquerque's leading business newspaper.

September 2008: Summit gives $50,000 to the American Red Cross for Hurricane Ike relief efforts. The hurricane impacted four Summit locations in Texas when it landed on Sept. 13, though damage was minor to service centers and all 116 associates escaped injury. With about $27 billion in damages to Texas coastal cities, Hurricane Ike was the third costliest in U.S. history, behind Hurricane Andrew of 1992 and Hurricane Katrina of 2005. Summit gave a separate donation of $11,800 to the local Albuquerque Red Cross chapter which also had sent people, supplies and vehicles to the storm battered Texas communities.

Aug. 12, 2008: Summit wins "Best of the Best" marketing awards from the National Association of Electrical Distributors in public relations category for the press coverage surrounding the donation to the Army National Guard unit stationed in Iraq December 2007 and in direct promotion category for counter sales promotion dubbed "Get Revved Up" that included a gas card incentive.

August 2008: Victor Jury Jr. is selected as a "Power Broker" by the New Mexico Business Weekly for a second time.

July 2008: Summit ranked #27 among Top 200 distributors by Electrical Wholesaling magazine, based on sales of about $340 million.

June 2008: The Army National Guard recognizes Summit, and Mary Lucero, for support of the troops during the holiday season. Lucero accepted a flag mosaic on behalf of the company from Gen. Kenny Montoya.

May 23, 2008: New Mexico Business Weekly publishes Jury's column "Good to Great in Giving" that explains his philosophy of philanthropy.

March 18, 2008: Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce honors Summit with its Community Star award in the large-business category for the company's contributions to the community.

December 2007: Summit receives media attention for supporting Army National Guard unit based in Rio Rancho that was serving in Baghdad, Iraq. The unit would not be home for the holidays. Associates raised $2,365 in five days for 150 soldiers in A Company, 1st Battalion, one of them, Andrew Lucero, is husband of Mary Lucero, a credit supervisor. Summit matched the initiative, making the total donation $4,730.

Oct. 4, 2007: Houston service center officially opens.

August 2007: Houston service center moves to an 84,000-square-foot building at 8718 W. Little York Road #100. The building showcases Summits new "retail" look and energy-saving lighting meant to serve as a template for future remodels.

June 26, 2007: Up one spot from 2006, Summit is ranked No. 22 in the annual Top 200 list compiled by Electrical Wholesaling magazine, with revenue of $337,000,000.

June 22, 2007: Summit is named in New Mexico business Weekly's list of "Fast Trackers," companies noted for their growth rates. Summit ranked #16 among 25 in the large business category.

March, 2007: Summit sales office opens in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

September 30, 2005: Victor Jury Jr. is listed as a "Power Broker" in New Mexico Business Weekly's annual Power magazine.

August 29, 2005: Hurricane Katrina makes landfall in Louisiana, and the resulting storm surge devastates a wide area of the Gulf region. More than 1,300 people were killed. Summit's three Louisiana service centers escaped major damage, but at least four associates lost their homes. A companywide relief campaign resulted in a $10,000 donation to the Red Cross Katrina relief fund.

June 2005: Summit is ranked No. 27 in Electrical Wholesaling magazine's annual list of the top electrical distributors in the nation.

November 10, 2004: In balloting at the annual New Mexico Private 100 luncheon, Summit is named the Most Admired Company in the state.

October 28, 2004: Summit wins a VIVA Award from the New Mexico Association of Commerce and Industry, the local arm of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. VIVA represents vision, investment, vitality and action.

June 2003: Summit is ranked No. 31 in Electrical Wholesaling magazine's annual list of The Top 200 Electrical Distributors.

April 30, 2003: Summit receives an Ethics in Business Award in the large-business category. Awards are presented to businesses that demonstrate "the highest ethical conduct and social responsibility."

March 2003: Summit is featured in cover story of The Electrical Distributor (TED) magazine. The article, headlined "30 Seconds to Perfection," is a general overview of Summit and Vic Jury's management style and principles.

December 5, 2002: Summit acquires the assets of a bankrupt competitor Warren Electric Group of Houston, Texas, for $10.5 million. The acquisition adds seven service centers in Texas (Houston, La Porte, Beaumont, Clute, Corpus Christi, Harlingen and Lufkin), four in Louisiana (New Orleans, Broussard, Sulphur and Gonzales), an export division based in Houston, and a sales branch in Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela. The service centers in Lufkin, Harlingen, Sulphur, and Puerto La Cruz are soon closed.

October 18, 2002: Killeen, Texas, service center opens through acquisition.

August 15, 2002: Summit celebrates its 25th anniversary.

June 2002: Summit ranks No. 34 in Electrical Wholesaling's annual list of the top 250 electrical distributors in the nation.

November 2001: In an effort to "find unique ways to support America during this difficult time," Summit unveils signs, billboards and bus panels displaying patriotic messages in the Albuquerque area. One billboard featured the words "Wherever public spirit prevails, liberty is secure" against an American flag backdrop and a picture of the Statue of Liberty. The response was prolific and overwhelmingly positive.

September 11, 2001: Terrorist attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania leave thousands dead and paralyze a stunned, mourning nation. Summit immediately organizes a donation drive involving associates, customers and vendors, and a percentage of September's profits were earmarked for the drive. The result totaled nearly $100,000, and checks were cut for both the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Many associates organized separate personal drives on their own to show their support and solidarity. Associates at the Fort Worth Service center, for example, collected more than $3,000 in change and small bills for New York firefighters, police officers and rescue workers.

September 2001: Summit ranks No. 40 on Electrical Wholesaling magazine's annual list of the top electrical distributors in the nation.

August 2001: San Antonio, Texas, service center opens through acquisition.

May 1, 2001: Austin, Texas, service center opens.

May 10, 2000: The Cerro Grande Fire destroys more than 250 homes in the Northern New Mexico city of Los Alamos, leaving hundreds of residents homeless. Summit provided a $20,000 cash donation to the American Red Cross and used Summit trucks to help deliver relief.

February 1999: Co-founder David Meredith announces his retirement. Victor Jury Jr. assumes title of president and chief executive officer.

May 23, 1997: Summit received a third certificate of excellence for its just-in-time contract with Los Alamos National Laboratory. Summit had worked on the Milagro Gamma Ray Observatory Project for more than two years.

November 1996: Summit is ranked No. 6 in the annual New Mexico Private 100 listing of the state's top privately owned companies.

March 1996: Summit receives a second certificate of excellence for its just-in-time systems contract with Los Alamos National Laboratory. Service levels for the Lab were at 99.3 percent.

November 1995: Summit secures the premium domain name of www.summit.com and debuts its first Web site.

March 1995: Summit receives a certificate of excellence for its just-in-time systems contract with Los Alamos National Laboratory.

January 1995: San Antonio, Texas, service center opens.

1995: Summit is one of the first electrical distributors in the nation to become ISO registered.

June 1994: Service centers in Albuquerque, Santa Fe and El Paso are registered to ISO requirements. Summit becomes one of the first companies in the nation to store their ISO documentation and procedures online.

June 1993: Summit is ranked No. 48 in Electrical Wholesaling magazine's annual list of the Top 250 electrical distributors in the nation, a jump of 28 spots from the previous year.

June 1993: Summit's new 57,000-square-foot Albuquerque headquarters at 2900 Stanford Dr. NE is completed.

September 1, 1992: Santa Fe service center opens.

June 1992: Summit is ranked No. 76 in Electrical Wholesaling magazine's annual list of the Top 250 electrical distributors in the nation.

November 18, 1991: Phoenix service center opens.

July 20, 1991: Summit unveils its 20/20 Will Call Service Guarantee®.

August 1, 1990: El Paso service center opens.

March 1990: Sandia National Laboratories names Summit as its Vendor of the Year among 33 companies with Just-In-Time Systems Contracts with Sandia. Summit provided Sandia with an order fill-rate of better than 99 percent.

1990: Co-founder Victor Jury Sr. announces his retirement. Victor Jury Jr. becomes Summit's president.

September 1989: The IBM Corp. names Summit as an authorized distributor of its industrial personal computers. It's a major step in the advancement of Summit's automation product lines.

February 1989: Summit and its three founders are featured on the cover of Electrical Wholesaling magazine. The article praises Summit's expertise with just-in-time systems contracts, which are hailed as "The Wave of the Future."

February 1988: Fort Worth, Texas, service center opens.

1988: Summit breaks into the Top 250 ranking of electrical distributors, listed at No. 173 in Electrical Wholesaling magazine. Summit is the youngest company on the list and the only one in the Southwest.

August 15, 1987: Summit celebrates 10th anniversary with 76 associates at three locations.

May 1987: Summit introduces its signature 30 Second Counter Service Guarantee®.

February 1987: Dallas service center opens, the first outside New Mexico.

August 1986: Summit signs the first of many just-in-time systems contracts with Sandia National Laboratories in Albuquerque.

May 1977: Summit Electric Supply is incorporated. Original officers: Victor Jury Sr., president, David Meredith,vice president and general manager, and Victor Jury Jr., vice president.
