2011

Summit Wins Online Marketing Award

Summit won the ElectricSmarts Network’s “Smarty Award” for online marketing efforts. 

The ElectricSmarts Network is an electrical industry media company, headquartered in Connecticut, that provides web-based marketing, e-learning and e-commerce services to thousands of contractors, distributors and manufacturers across the United States.

The award is presented to both manufacturers and distributors who have shown excellence in online marketing as demonstrated by high numbers of content views, clickthrus and percentage of clickthrus, according to Bill Floyd with ElectricSmarts.

The purpose is to recognize distributors that are helping to drive traffic to their manufacture-partner’s content, shortening the product buy cycles and building customer relationships.

Summit was one of only three distributors to receive the award this year.



Habitat for Humanity Recognizes Summit Electric Supply

Greater Albuquerque Habitat for Humanity, celebrating 25 years of service this year, recognized Summit Electric Supply's support for its 156th home building project.

Summit's Albuquerque location has supported Habitat for Humanity projects in Albuquerque, Valencia County, and in Santa Fe.

Dona Swenson, development coordinator, along with Nila Scarberry, ReStore director, came to Summit's Albuquerque corporate headquarters and presented a creative, floor tile thank-you plaque to Service Center Leader Wiley Shaw and Jarred Killgore, customer service representative who manages Habitat for Humanity's material requests.

Russel Hiller Receives Professional Award

Summit Electric Supply’s CFO and Treasurer Russel Hiller has been selected as 2010 Outstanding Member in Corporate Practice by the New Mexico Society of CPAs. He was nominated for the award by colleague Ben Darwin of Meyners + Co. Hiller and Darwin serve on the board of the New Mexico Family Business Alliance, an agency that helps family business owners with accounting related issues. Hiller was recognized at the Society’s annual awards ceremony on Nov. 19 at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Albuquerque.



Joy Junction Names Summit "Community Hero"

New Mexico’s largest homeless shelter, Joy Junction, recognized Summit Electric Supply as a “Community Hero” for donating the Lifeline of Hope food service vehicle that allowed the shelter to serve twice as many meals in the past year by taking food to hungry homeless people on the streets of Albuquerque who could not make it to the shelter or for whom there was no room there. Jeremy Reynalds, shelter founder and CEO, presented the award to Summit President/CEO Victor R. Jury Jr. and his children at the Albuquerque Marriott Pyramid North Hotel at the shelter's annual banquet and award ceremony.



Summit Wins 3 Industry Marketing Awards

Summit's efforts snagged three industry marketing awards at the National Association of Electrical Distributors’ annual Best of the Best marketing awards ceremony. Summit won in three marketing categories: Print campaign − for an advertisement in Workboat magazine highlighting the marine division’s capabilities;Brand awareness − for a holiday-themed Nutcracker print card, electronic card, Web site and counter collateral; and Digital campaign − for Summit's Twitter page and postings.



New Industry Ranking Lists Summit #18

In its first industry rankings story, Modern Distribution Management magazine ranked Summit #18 among the nation’s top 25 electrical distributors. The rankings were based on reported annual sales.



David Wascom Receives Volunteer Service Award from Leading SAP Group

David Wascom, vice president of IT for Summit Electric Supply, received the Volunteer Service Award from Americas’ SAP User Group (ASUG) in Orlando, Fla., on May 18. He has been a volunteer for the past three years. He currently serves as co-chairman of the wholesale distribution segment of the group. SAP is an international enterprise resource planning system that Summit began using in 2005. The award was presented at the same event as Summit’s Impact Award, the company’s first IT-related award based on its accomplishments using SA



SAP Success Garners Impact Award

The Americas’ SAP Users’ Group (ASUG), the world’s largest community of SAP professionals, awarded Summit the group’s Impact Award in the small to medium enterprise category. Impact awards are based on implementation and effective use of SAP solutions. Winners are selected based on demonstrated success in return on investment, best practices, improved service and innovation. It was Summit’s first IT-related award. Summit joined other Impact Award winners Comcast Corp, Northern Kentucky University and Eastman Chemical Co.



Summit Wins First National Community Service Award

Summit won the nationally recognized Communitas Award in the category of Leadership in Community Service. “Our judges found that Summit Electric Supply clearly exhibits the spirit of communitas, a Latin word that means people coming together for the good of a community,” wrote Director Ed Dalheim. Judges reviewed Summit’s philosophy of giving along with summaries of selected service projects among the 43 community and nonprofit organizations and causes the company supported in 2009.

Summit Takes Industry's Overall Marketing Award for First Time

Summit won TED Magazine’s Overall Best of the Best award for the first time for its Web site www.summit.com. The redesigned site was chosen from more than 300 entries to take the top distributor award. The award represents overall best marketing practices in the electrical industry, according to the magazine’s online newsletter announcing the winners at the end of the industry’s AdVenture Sales & Marketing Conference held in Chicago Aug. 9-12. The Web site first won in the Web site category. An entry must win its category before being considered for the higher award. Summit also won in the large distributor direct promotion category for the 2008 holiday season’s special “Truck & Buck – Don’t Forget Your Little Helper.”



Hayata Names Summit Distributor of the Year

Hayata North America, an international maker of stainless steel cable ties and banding for marine and offshore applications, named Summit Electric Supply its Distributor of the Year for leading the U.S. in sales of Hayata products in 2008.



Electrical Wholesaling Ranks Summit #22

Summit was ranked #22 among the nation’s Top 200 electrical distributors by Electrical Wholesaling magazine based on sales of $384 million.



NM Business Weekly Names Summit "Corporate Hero"

Summit Takes Annual Industry Marketing Awards

Summit won "Best of the Best" marketing awards from the National Association of Electrical Distributors in direct promotion category and public relations category for the press coverage surrounding the donation to the Army National Guard unit stationed in Iraq December 2007. A music-themed sales conference dubbed "Jam Session" and a Houston counter redesign effort garnered honorable mentions in event and merchandising categories.
